The Counseling Center of Milwaukee, Training Program offers premiere graduate internships for clinical social work programs and community counseling programs, post-graduate externships are also available for those looking for opportunities to earn their 3000 hours of clinical work for licensing.

The internship program provides Master’s level students with a wide variety of clinical experiences. They work with an extensive array of clients-all ages, genders, race/ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, income levels, presenting problems, and diagnoses. The externship program is a non-paid placement and accepts graduates from accredited University programs, who have had a field placement. There is a monthly fee of $125 to cover all overhead expenses plus supervision. There is one partial scholarship given per year. Externs receive the same extensive training as the interns and are provided group supervision. A one-year commitment is required.

The Counseling Program provides short-term, crisis intervention mental health services. Services are provided by interns (Master’s degree students), externs (post-Master’s degree in the process of earning 3000 clinical hours for licensing), volunteers (licensed therapist donating their time) and licensed therapists. These clinicians are supervised by the clinical supervision team consisting of two licensed clinical social workers, one licensed professional counselor and one psychologist.
