American School of Bangkok
Elephant Mahout Camp

I recently traveled with a group
of students to Pattaya Thailand on
an Environmental Leadership Program
to learn about the Endangered Asian
Elephant.

Students worked in small groups
with an elephant & their trainer
(mahout).
We spent 3 days learning how to
train, ride & care for elephants.
Students experienced the way a
mahout lives, and the importance of
elephants in Asian culture &
history.

Current Work
I am
currently working on a variety of
illustrations, for the establishment
of a children’s story based on
cultural beliefs & creation myths.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman, in
Lakota mythology, is a sacred woman
of supernatural origin who gave the
Lakota their "Seven Sacred Rituals”

Tlingkit Raven Creation Myth

Coatlique, Lady of the Skirt of
Snakes, from the Aztec Creation
Myth.

Important animals for the Yup’ik
Eskimo of Southwest Alaska, the
bones are shown, for the belief an
animal is reborn through it’s bones,
and the bladder which contains the
animal’s inua, or soul. |
